Cultural Enrichment and Language Learning: IUS TLT Students Attend Ankara University Summer School
Four students from the IUS Turkish Language and Literature, Teaching (TLT) study program had the opportunity to participate in a summer school organized by Ankara University from July 22 to August 16, 2024.
The students were placed into groups based on their Turkish language proficiency level, allowing them to advance their knowledge through daily lessons. These lessons covered a wide range of topics, including grammar, the history of the Turkish language, literature, and writing rules. Spending nearly a month in Turkey also provided the students with the chance to practice the language in everyday situations, meet peers from other countries, and create valuable memories and friendships.
As part of the program, professors from Ankara University organized visits to some of Ankara's most renowned cultural sites, including Atatürk's Mausoleum (Anıtkabir), the National Library, various museums, and the historic Ottoman neighborhood of Hamamönü.
The students regard this experience as a significant opportunity not only to enhance their Turkish language skills but also to gain independence and problem-solving abilities. They eagerly anticipate the next summer school and extend their gratitude to everyone who made their stay in Ankara possible.
