Prof. Dr. Birol Çetin Delivers a Lecture at IUS on Understanding History

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, the Turkish Language and Literature, Teaching (TLT) study program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized another lecture within its “Turkology Talks” series, titled “What is History? How Should We Look at History?”

The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Birol Çetin, Education Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Sarajevo and former President of the Turkish Historical Society. Bringing together valuable academic and professional experience, Prof. Dr. Çetin offered participants meaningful insights into the nature of history and the ways in which it should be approached, interpreted, and understood.

Through this lecture, attendees had the opportunity to reflect on the importance of historical perspective and the role of critical thinking in understanding past events.
